Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress — a hidden place — when the angel of the Lord appeared and called him a mighty warrior.
The winepress was a place of concealment. Gideon hid there because an enemy pressed in, and he did what many leaders do under pressure: he kept working, but he kept hidden.
